As women, our bodies are in constant conversation with us, through our energy, our moods, our sleep, our cycles. But so often, we’re not taught how to listen. We push through tiredness, feeling crappy, weight gain, unexplained symptoms ... blaming stress, that time of the month or age, and overlook the quiet signals our hormones are sending.
Hormones aren’t just about fertility in your 20 & 30s or menopause later in life, they influence everything from how clearly we think to how deeply we sleep and how joyfully we get to show up everyday. When they’re in balance, we feel grounded, energised, and at ease in our daily lives. When they’re not, even small things can feel like uphill battles.
The good news? You don’t need to “fix” your hormones, you just need to understand them. By learning how they work and how factors like stress, nutrition and rest affect them, you can work with your body instead of against it.
Our hormones are constantly shifting whether we’re in our 20s navigating monthly cycles, in our 40s moving through perimenopause, or beyond menopause entirely. These hormonal transitions don’t mean we can’t train hard or stay strong, they just mean our approach might need to evolve.
During the menstrual years, fluctuations in hormones influence strength, endurance, recovery and even motivation. There are phases when you might feel powerful and ready to lift heavy and others when your body needs more rest or restorative movement. When you tune into those rhythms, you can align your training for better results and fewer energy crashes.
For women in perimenopause or menopause, hormone levels shift more dramatically, affecting sleep, recovery and muscle maintenance. And when you understand this a lot of things become your control, and not "it's because I'm getting older". Strength training, balanced nutrition and stress management become superpowers in this stage supporting bone density, stabilising mood and boosting metabolism.
Longevity isn’t just about adding years to your life, it’s about adding life to your years. For women, this means maintaining strength, energy and vitality so we can keep doing the things we love : training😉, dancing, laughing, creating, being amazing!
Hormones play a central role in this. They influence our metabolism, bone health, heart function and even brain clarity. When we nourish our bodies, manage stress, prioritise sleep and train intelligently, we create an internal environment where our hormones can thrive and where we can thrive.
“Your hormones aren’t holding you back — they’re guiding you forward.”
